Tyreek Hill is a scumbag; everybody knows this. He choked and beat his pregnant girlfriend before he got to the NFL. And now reports are coming out that he is under investigation for an assault and batter case for breaking the arm of a 9 year old.
Professional athletes may be the last sect of people who still get the innocent before proven guilty treatment so no firm statements will be made about Hill until the investigation is complete.
However, if he is found guilty of these charges he should be banned from the NFL. He shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place and if this report proves to be true, he should be put in jail and have the key thrown away.
Realistically he’ll get a probation sentence, have to attend anger management counseling, and will be suspended by the NFL for 8 games. If the Chiefs want to keep their reputation for not employing assholes (even though this guy was a known asshole in college) they’ll cut him like they did Kareem Hunt. And someone will sign him because he’s one of the best receivers in the NFL.
However, a new report from Jay Glazer, who was ahead of everyone with the report the Giants were listening to Odell trade offers, says the Chiefs were quietly shopping Hill around and listening to offers.
At the time the Chiefs were negotiating a long term extension for Hill, and maybe they realized they wouldn’t be able to pay him what he wanted because Patrick Mahomes will need a new contract soon. Wouldn’t it be smart to invest in those two as the future of your team, though? Yeah they’ll probably take up between 50-60 million a year in cap space but you saw last year what they can do together.
If Hill is cleared of these charges do the Chiefs continue to negotiate with Hill while putting out feelers if a team is willing to give up a kings ransom? The Bills just tried to trade for Antonio Brown, and pairing Hill with Allen would be just as good, if not better. Sam Darnold is still cheap and needs a weapon. Imagine pairing Hill with Bell? If the Cardinals draft Kyler Murray he’s going to need a receiver to throw to. All those teams have (or will have) a young quarterback on a rookie deal and a boatload of cap space. it’s not unfathomable to think someone gives the Chiefs two first round picks for Hill and they accept, treating Mahomes like Brady in that he makes his receivers better not vice versa.
However, if he IS found guilty and the Chiefs cut him, every team will have the opportunity to sign him. And there is a team out there that would give hill all the money in the world. A team that only values speed. A team whose founder and former owner did not give a shit about character if the guy could play.
As much as I hate Hill, I need him to be a Raider. Not only would he fit in to the shitshow organization as it moves to Vegas, watching Antonio Brown mope around after Hill gets more money than him will be must watch television. The amount of passive aggressiveness between those two, Carr, Gruden, and Mark Davis would generate higher ratings than any sitcom.
